FAUNA FOREVER TAMBOPATA - WILDLIFE RESEARCH IN THE AMAZON RAINFORESTS OF PERU

Fauna Forever Tambopata is a long-term wildlife and ecotourism monitoring project based in and around the Tambopata National Reserve and Bahuaja Sonene National Park in the Amazon rainforest of south-eastern Peru. The Tambopata region encompassed by these two protected areas, and their respective buffer zones, lies on the eastern edge of the Tropical Andes biodiversity hotspot, arguably the most biodiverse region on Earth and known for its wilderness qualities.

The FFT project, which dates back to 1997, is managed by a dedicated team of international and Peruvian biologists who are committed to conserving Peru's amazing biodiversity and who have a particular passion for the lowland rainforests of Tambopata.

In July 2009, we will be embarking on our third monitoring project and we are looking for assistance from you!

The Project is supported by the Tambopata Reserve Society (TReeS), a UK Charity (No. 298054), and affiliated to its sister organisation Sociedad Tambopata-TReeS, a Peruvian not-for-profit organisation. Both organisations work towards biodiversity conservation, community development, sound use of natural resources and environmental education in the Peruvian Amazon.

The Project is of vital local importance and needs your help. Although core external funding covers the costs of equipment, principal researchers and administration costs we would be unable to scale up the Project's monitoring efforts without the active participation of international and Peruvian volunteer researchers who are able to contribute their in-country travel, accommodation and food expenses.
